Russian Lash Introduction

Jessica Horner 9th August 2022

The Russian lash technique is when you apply a multi lash application to the natural lash. This technique originated from Russia. This is a technique recommended to be used by an experienced lash technician to ensure a full understanding of the procedure. This technique of application involves using the ultra-fine lashes normally 0.05mm or 0.07mm in thickness, adhering anything from 2 up to 9 lashes at one time in a fan effect to the individual natural lash. It is important to always use the ultra-fine lashes to ensure that you create a natural feel that is light weight and comfortable for the client. An important point to note is that if you use thicker lashes you can cause damage to the natural lash as they become too heavy.

What are the benefits of the Russian lashes? The main benefits of Russian lashes are:

  • Fuller volume
  • Glamourous look
  • Great for clients with very sparse natural lashes
  • Recommended for a more natural feel as very light weight
  • Longer lasting with maintenance every 2-3 weeks
  • Great for clients that normally pick their lashes off with the classic semi-permanent lashes; Russian lashes are much harder to pick off and therefore less damage
  • Different length lashes can be used in the blend to create more natural but still fuller effect.

Technique

On average the treatment will take between 2-3 hours and we recommend that you apply approximately 400 eyelashes per eye. The amount of lashes applied to each lash will vary depending on the stage of growth at which the lash is at, normally anything from 2-6 lashes is the guideline. This technique is recommended for already qualified lash technicians due to it being an advanced technique. Please note that this application will still require a lot of practice. The fan of lashes is created on the eyelash strip by the technician before it is applied using the specific tweezers. They are then careful lifted from the strip then dipped into a fast drying adhesive and then gently placed onto the natural lash that has been isolated, again keeping it away from the skin. The fanned effect created helps to cover any gaps within the lash line that the client may have and the lashes stay fuller for longer due to the technique used with the fan effect of the lashes. It is important to note that infills every 2 to 3 weeks will still be required because the natural eyelashes grow and shed in the exact same way regardless of the technique used.
